Do you believe in fate? Why or why not?

I had to search for one before I could actually find one I liked, lol.

Anyway. Prepare yourself, this may be a bit lengthy, also I'll prolly stroll off of subject every now and then... or something like that....

I don't believe that some higher being, like God, or something like that is controlling my fate. The reason for this isn't so much that I don't believe in a higher being or God, it's just that I don't like the idea of my fate being controlled by someone other than me. I am the one who is in control of what happens to me in the end.

It's probably influenced by a show I watched a few summers ago, but what I believe is called "Inevitability." Like... hmm. I don't want to say that if something happens it was fated to happen, though, I guess that's what it is, lol. But to me, it's like... Events C and D are both future possibilities, but because Event A took place, Event A took place instead of Event B, then Event C will happen and Event D will not. In simpler terms, I'm saying that the future is subjective. Any move you make right now could very well influence what happens in the end. So, that's why, in my opinion, if you go to a psychic and they tell you that something's going to happen and it doesn't, it's because you did something to prevent that from happening.

I used this example else where, but say you're not good at a subject, say math. If you've got a test coming up you can either study or not study. If you go with the mentality that you're not good at math and that studying will not change anything and so you choose not to study, it's only inevitable you get a bad grade, it's not because you were destined to get a bad grade... Or something like that.

A character from a show I like says that destiny can be broken, and I whole-heartedly agree with that.

Also, maybe this isn't related, but I don't believe in coincidences, or in the very least, repeated coincidences. Maybe once, it could be just written off as an accident but if it happens again, and even a third time... something's up. Things happen, I guess, for a reason.

...yeah, I think I just confused more people, lol.
