17th-Jul-2009 12:46 am - irresponsible
Sooo, today and yesterday I've been watching episodes of Pandora Hearts in large quantities (well, not REALLY because there are only 16 episode currently out). I was lazy at first, but I really like all the characters. Alice is crude and loves meat. Oz is happy-go-lucky and adorable. Gil (snicker) is tall, dark, and mysterious, as is Break who seems to have an affinity for sweets. PLUS THERE'S THE WILL OF THE ABYSS (who looks like Alice) WHO IS TOTALLY CRAZY AND VIOLENT AND I LOVE HER TOO (even though she scares me like Vincent).

Also, I like the music. :D

ANYWAY, there's my shameless plug for the series. My point was something else.

During one of the more current episodes Break, who I didn't like so much at first but ultimately grew on me (and he fights with Oz for series favorite, lol.), says, "I simply hate irresponsible words like 'I did it all for someone else'!"

It got me to thinking, do people really do things just for someone else or is their own personal satisfaction weighed in there somewhere?

I had this big explanation in my head and stuff about it, but it kinda died out. I was watching another episode of Pandora Hearts and Haruhi... For the latter, when will it end? ; A;

30th-Sep-2008 03:46 pm - Itazura na Kiss - Final Thoughts

Kotoko and Irie

Itazura na Kiss is a romantic anime series about Kotoko Aihara, an energetic young woman, and Naoki Irie, a cool, calm and collected young man. At the beginning of the series Kotoko writes out all the feelings she's harbored for Irie in a love letter which she promptly offers to him. However, Irie flat out rejects Kotoko, leaving her feeling dejected, but this doesn't last long. Later that day, Kotoko, along with her father and friends celebrate the completion of their new house. This celebration is short lived, though, as the house soon falls to pieces. This leaves Kotoko and her father to seek out a place to stay until they get a new home and the pair soon end up at the house of Kotoko's father's friend. Kotoko quickly finds out that her father's friend is the father of Naoki Irie who had so bluntly rejected her earlier that day and that she will be living with him! Itazura na Kiss follows the ups and downs of the relationship between the two.

...It also has one of my favorite romantic scenes in an anime series. :3
31st-Aug-2008 05:53 pm - Ouran High School Host Club Dub
pout
Okay~ So, yesterday at three o'clock Anime Vegas had a showing of the first three episodes of Ouran High School Host Club dubbed.  At first, I only thought that there would be one episode shown, but the audience was lucky enough to see three and afterwards there would be a panel with Catlin Glass (Haruhi), Todd Haberkorn (Hikaru), Travis Willingham (Mori), Monical Rial (Renge?) and I think some others after the showing. However, I didn't stay long enough to catch the panel.

I did see the three episodes though.

Having seen the series already subbed, I was a bit apprehensive on how it would come out and such, especially when you see my comments on Vic and Catlin in their roles. Also, I wasn't sure if it would be as funny as when I first watched. But as I watched the first episode, I laughed just as much as I did the first time I did.

Hearing Catlin's voice as Haruhi pretty much dissolved any doubt of her that I had. I approve now, needless to say. She did very well. :3 As did Luci Christian who did... Honey. Kyouya's voice was alright and... yeah. Vic does Tamaki's part good enough, though I DO wish that he was deeper, but he's still funny Tamaki. xD

As for the twins, I can tell them apart now. That's about it. Evertime I heard Kaoru talk I thought of Kousuke. xD Though I don't really think that Todd and Greg sound like twins... They're close enough though. :3

In other news, they kept things like "-chan" and "-sempai" in there. But no "-kun" or "-san." In there... Also, the openings and endings are dubbed, and while I don't really like it that much still, the dubbed version of Sakura Kiss is growing on me... But, what irks me is that I didn't get to really here Shissou because everyone decided to talk during it. D:

That aside, watching it today has convinced me to buy (or at least ask for) Ouran when it comes out. :3
4th-Jul-2008 10:11 pm - Ouran High School Host Club Cast
takanocry
SO~ Today at AX they announced the cast of Ouran High School Host Club, one of the most anticipated releases of 2008. The first DVD is set to be released on October 28, 2008 in 13 episode sets. This means that there will be only two releases for the series, but god knows how much Funi will make these things... With their recent aquirement of ADV and Geneon titles I'm hoping that it will not be too much. I was hoping for a September release, but hey, it's just in time for my birthday.

Anyway.

The main cast is as follows:

Catlin Glass as Haruhi Fujioka - Personally, I do not really think Catlin can pull of the... genderless voice of Haruhi based on her previous roles, but we don't know. I also don't like this particularly cast because Catlin is also the voice director, and she cast herself into this role... And personally, who wouldn't want to be Haruhi? I actually pictured Catlin as Renge. I mean, based on her role as Hiyono in Spiral I think it'd be perfect for her.

Vic Mignogna as Tamaki Suou - Well, Vic got the role he wished for. Again, based on past roles I cannot really picture Vic as Tamaki... But I think he can be... I dunno...elegant (?) enough to be him. ...The more I talk the more I can picture it... But anyway, I guess it's me being unable to pull him out of his role of Edward Elric. But I can picture him more as Tamaki more than Catlin as Haruhi. So, who knows. I think I can see it more because of that time I saw him at a con. ...yeah. I'm sure I'll grow to like him.

Greg Ayres as Kaoru Hitachiin - I've only heard two of Greg's roles. These two being Kaworu Nagisa in the DC of Evangelion and obviously Kousuke from Spiral. Basing it from Kousuke's voice I have to admit that I like this...role assignment, lmao. Anyway, I think I mentioned to someone that Greg would be Kaoru if I casted Ouran. So. I'm happy. :3

J. Michael Tatum as Kyoya Ohtori - No comment, I don't know who the heck this person is. But I hope he's.... heartless sounding enough.

Luci Christian  as Mitsukuni Haninozuka - ...I can't really remember any of Luci Christian's roles. Oh. She was Wrath. Well... I dunno. I think Wrath is a shota character so... This might work. ...Yeah. ._.;;

Mike McFarland as Ryuuji "Ranka" Fujioka - This dude was Ritsu, another crossdresser, so I think he'll ease into Ranka quite easily. :3

Patrick Seitz as Umehito Nekozawa - I think this guy played someone in Bleach. I think he can do it though... Who was he... Ichigo's Dad? Yeah... He can do it.

Todd Haberkorn as Hikaru Hitachiin - I had only Todd's voice recently as someone in Jigoku Shoujo and in the monthly Funimation update. And so I think this is a pretty good role for the guy based on that. :3 The biggest thing for me about Hikaru is that his voice must be similar but not the Kaoru's. Like I mentioned before I had pictured Greg as Kaoru, but no one at the time had a voice like Greg's, Todd's is kinda similar, so...yeah. :3

And~

Travis Willingham as Takeshi Morinozuka - ....I'm sorry, Roy's "I LOVE DOGS!" line is stuck in my head. But Mori doesn't talk so much so it'll be fine... I think Travis can get as low as I picture it.

Ha. Anyway, so...yeah. Looking forward to Ouran, but the thing that worries me about it is the lead two characters. Everyone else is fine, but....yeah. :/ Who knows though.

That aside who's ready for the final episode of Death Note tomorrow night?!

21st-Jun-2008 09:52 pm - Another Interview
From Snow~ *huggle*

1. What is your favorite genre to write?

Mm. It's hard to say. I like doing light-hearted comedy, but I also like doing dark psychological stuff. It all really depends on my mood at the time. But, psychological stuff is a lot more interesting to me. Yeah. Is that even a genre? Well, it is now.

2. What is your greatest difficulty when writing?

Losing interest. It makes it so much harder for me to force myself to write. And not having the heart is hard too. Like right now, I really want to write, but I just don't have the heart to do it... I mean, I don't have.... well, I guess it's better to say that I'm lazy. Seriously lazy. D:

But putting interest aside, because that's a lame thing to say, characterization is also really hard - I mean, if it's fanfiction. Some charaters are easy to get because they're so straight-forward, but some are really hard because, well, they aren't open. I have a kind of policy where I won't write if I don't know the characters well enough.... And even when I do I'm still... unsure. But I think the interest part is a lot harder when it actually is... there? ^^;;

3. What is your favorite movie genre? Least favorite?

I really like comedies. Well, not usually pure comedies, like romantic comedies or action comedies, yeah, those are the best. And I don't like horror movies... Well, I don't really watch them often, but horrors...yeah, not my thing. Thrillers too. And psychological movies, lol. Ironic, I think.

But I also don't watch movies that often, so... *shrug*

4. What do you want to do when you 'grow up'?

If this was a perfect world then I'd say I'd like to write novels and stuff. But when it comes down to it, I think that, to me, writing is more a hobby than something I could do professionally. I like food and I kinda wanna be a chef. And I kinda wanna be a detective like L . Iunno. I think that's bad.

5. You have to choose between finishing a story you now hate, does it show when you write? (Like you're not interested so the story drags or whatever)

lol, I know where this question comes from, I think. I was about to say... "I could never hate one of my stories" but that's a lie, so I won't say it. The ones I usually hate, though are the ones that I think have a flimsy plot, like this one-shot I was working on earlier, the main character can't fess up to this guy so she kisses him, later thinks it was mistake, then runs away from him everytime she sees him... lol, the concept was good, but it needs to be tweaked. Since it's a one-shot I can fix it still and have no problems with it later. But... with something I already started posting... once it's up, I can't do anything to it. D:

...I'm offtopic. Anyway, it does show, first, it takes forever to get something out, next usually when that thing is out it's shorter than it should be... That's about it. I can't really say for sure, so....yeah. ;; Shorter and takes longer to actually finish chapters of it...

In other news, Funimation, you can't be serious about licensing the first fifty-one episodes of D.Gray-man. I mean, that cuts off right when they're going to Japan! You can't do that! Finish off the fillers then tag on one episode! D:

And I'm disappointed, I was hoping that Aaron Dismuke would get to be a host in Ouran... But I can settle for him being Chika, I guess.
